1 Large mixingbowl
1 Grater
1 Frying pan
1 Spatula
1 Mixing spoon
1 Paper towels
- - 4 large potatoes peeled and grated
- - 1 onion finely chopped
- - 2 green chilies finely chopped
- - 1/2 cup besan gram flour
- - 1/4 cup rice flour
- - 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- - 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- - Salt to taste
- - Oil for frying
Step-by-Step Cooking Guide:
Step 1: Grate the Potatoes
Peel and grate the potatoes on a large grater. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze to remove any excess liquid.
Step 2: Prepare the batter.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together the grated potatoes, finely chopped onion, green chilies, besan, rice flour, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well to get a thick batter.
Step 3: Preheat the oil.
Preheat a frying pan over medium heat and add enough oil for shallow frying. Allow the oil to heat until it is shimmering.
Step 4: Shape Pancakes
Take a little amount of batter and form it into a flat, circular pancake. Gently place it in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
Step 5: Fry till golden brown.
Fry the pancakes until golden brown on one side, then flip and cook until the second side is evenly browned. Using a spatula, carefully turn the pancakes.
Step 6: Drain the excess oil.
Once cooked, place the pancakes on a platter lined with paper towels to drain any leftover oil.
Step 7: Serve hot.
Serve Aluchya Wadya hot, with your favorite chutney or sauce.
